This week I joined my colleagues in categorically and whole-heartedly condemning the recent attacks, assault, harassment, attempted abductions, and intimidation targeted toward women in the neighbourhoods of Toronto’s west end.
Gender-based violence has no place in Toronto.
In tandem with the individual and interpersonal violence happening in Toronto’s west end, there is ongoing racialized violence happening in Indigenous, Black, and People of Colour communities right now. We must also further acknowledge the missing and murdered Indigenous women of Canada, and the violence perpetrated upon their bodies.
We must collectively work towards a future of non-violence, gender equality, and peace.
