Tenant School

Published on January 9, 2020

Are you a tenant? Are you struggling to get basic repairs done? Ever felt nervous about your privacy, rent increases or evictions? Do you have questions about your rights under the law? Have you ever thought about working with your neighbours to improve conditions in your building?

To ensure renters across the riding have the knowledge, resources, and training they need to defend their rights and stay in their homes I hosting a two-day Tenant School on January 25 & February 1.

Recently, I’ve been hearing from tenants across University-Rosedale who are afraid of losing their homes due to renovictions, above the guideline rent increases (AGIs), and other aggressive landlord tactics. Many of the tenants who have reached out to my office are seniors on fixed incomes.

In 2020 I promise to do everything I can to fight for better protections for renters. As an MPP, a community member, and as a tenant I will not stand by and allow our city to continue to become increasingly unaffordable. This is our city and we are going to fight to stay.
