To the Legislative Assembly of Ontario:
WHEREAS the Ford government has removed over $6.3 billion from Ontario’s public education system and is cutting a further $900 million, leading to larger class sizes, fewer educators, and reduced supports for students;
WHEREAS these cuts are resulting in reduced programming, fewer special education supports, and worsening conditions for students across Ontario schools;
WHEREAS the removal of class size caps and ongoing layoffs of teachers and education workers are undermining student learning, safety, and well-being;
WHEREAS the government is centralizing decision-making in Queen’s Park, removing power from elected school board trustees and leaving parents without a meaningful voice in their children’s education;
THEREFORE WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, PETITION THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF ONTARIO AS FOLLOWS:
To reverse cuts to public education, restore funding for student supports, protect local decision-making, and ensure every child has access to a safe, well-resourced public school.
