Across Ontario, more and more households are making the switch from fossil fuels to electric heat pumps—lowering their energy bills and cutting their carbon footprint at the same time. It’s a smart move, especially with natural gas prices set to rise again this spring.
But there’s a problem. Enbridge is making it harder than it should be for customers to cancel their gas service.
I've heard from constituents who have spent months trying to close their accounts, only to receive surprise bills, contradictory instructions, or be told that their meters were never properly disconnected.
This isn’t just frustrating. It’s unfair—and it's slowing down Ontario’s shift to cleaner, more affordable energy.
That’s why we’re calling on the Ontario Energy Board to step in.
I've written to Susanna Zagar, CEO of the OEB, asking the Board to direct Enbridge to create a clear, consistent, and no-cost process for gas account cancellations.
