QUEEN’S PARK — Ontario NDP transit critic Jessica Bell (University-Rosedale) is demanding answers from the Ford government as a new report reveals the Ontario Line has been delayed by a further two years. The September Infrastructure Ontario Market Update reveals contract signing for the full Ontario Line has been delayed until Spring 2024 — two years later than the Ford government promised in January.
“The Ford government needs to explain why the northern section of the Ontario Line is being delayed yet again. The Ford government’s track record so far is to rip up a shovel ready project and replace it with a back-of-the-napkin plan that is being delayed again, while commuters and families are still stuck waiting for overcrowded trains.
Doug Ford promised the Ontario Line would be complete and carrying passengers by 2027. He’s learning the hard way that it’s easy to draw lines on a map but it’s much harder to build transit right.”
