The province has begun pre-budget consultations and is seeking feedback from Ontarians for the 2024 Budget. Pre-budget consultations are an excellent opportunity to ensure you get your voice on the record so the government can be held accountable if the budget falls short of your expectations.
I encourage you to participate in the online survey and to include written submissions at this link. The deadline for the survey and written submissions is January 31, 2024.
Additionally, the Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs is now accepting requests to appear before the committee at public hearings taking place across the province. Unfortunately, the Government did not schedule any hearings in Toronto. This is highly irregular and is all the more reason why you should make a point of ensuring your voice is heard. With that in mind, you can request to appear in other locations and can participate virtually if needed. You can request to appear before the committee and to make a written submission by using use the OLA web tool.

I encourage you to put in a request early so that if the hearings are over-subscribed and you can’t be accommodated at one hearing, you can still apply to other locations. Usually, the northern hearings are significantly under-subscribed, so that’s an option if you only want to submit one request to appear.
