I’m excited to spotlight our 2025 Voices of Change Speech Competition, for University-Rosedale students in TDSB and TCDSB English-language schools in Grades 5, 6, 7, and 8.
This competition invites students to take the stage and share passionate and persuasive speeches on political issues that impact their lives and communities. Each school can register up to two students.
This is a great opportunity for cross-school learning and engagement, and there will be prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. We welcome students from a range of public speaking backgrounds, with some feeling very comfortable and others having no experience - yet! We’re looking to celebrate authentic and engaged student voices, whether they’ve spoken before or not.
Students have until the end of 2025 to craft their speeches, and the competition will take place in January 2026. If you’re a parent, you can reach out to your child’s educator to see if their school is participating.
If you’re an educator yourself and interested in the competition, please contact my office for more information and we’ll help you to get involved. Schools may register up to two students until November 28th at 5pm.
